Abstract: Hepatectomy is still the main treatment for liver malignant tumors. Surgical resection can improve the survival and prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma. However, the influence of the width of the surgical margin on the survival prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma is still controversial. Based on the existing literature evidence, this article will review the relationship between the width of surgical margins and the survival and prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma, therefore, trying to explain the clinical research progress of surgical margins from microvascular invasion and circulating tumor cells.
